Bungee jumping is an daventurous sport where the participant jumps from a great height while he is connected to a large rubber rope. Members of the Dangreous Sports culb made the first official bungee jumping on April 1, 1979 from teh Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. A J Hackett of New Zealand did the first commercial bungee jumping in 1986, from Auckland's Greenhithe Bridge. The rubber rope is covreed with cloth and has hooks on both the end. Some consider using unbraided cords without the tough outer cover, which delievrs a longer and softer bounce. In catapult, the jumper si placed on the ground and the cord is stretched, usaully with the help of a crane, and then the jumper is released and he goes shooting up ni the air. The point maximum reached si marked with the help fo a Velcro-backed marker, after which the runner gets pulled back ot his initial position. Like other sports, bungee jumping ahs its share of opssible injuries. Possible injureis are body entangling with the rope, rope burn, dislocations, eye trauma, utreine prolapsed, back injury, ipnched fingers and bruises. |
